Sedo sales - week 32

Category: Bestsellers - Remy @

Less sales of French domain names to get their teeth last week over the previous, but trading volume higher. This is the first report to be drawn to the sight of the weekly publication of transfers at Sedo closed during week 32.

With two beautiful jewels in the top 10: modele-cv-lettre.com and model-letter type.com, sold respectively 15,000 and $ 10,000. For those who astonished - rightly - the amount in advance to higher market values of the areas in question, I remember that these transactions complete web sites. But on sites, content often have value to a specific buyer who has a concrete idea of the business plan. The "live" site and referral are also key points to consider when the proposed acquisition. One example would imagine that the purchaser has teme ambition to develop a site job search around these sites.

For the rest, two small. Com to get their teeth only: petitprix.fr (2000 EUR) and webradios.fr (1000 EUR). Calcium.net (4100 EUR party auction premium and whose root is in USE THEREOF other languages) and tele.biz (1100 EUR) supplement the modest crop up detailed article.

It should say August are traditionally quieter months in terms of transactions, such as traffic elsewhere. We understand that most people have better things to do that exchange areas or surf the Internet. The sun is shining, enjoy it!

I also relish a few days off from Wednesday. Expected return in September, until then keep well and take care of your domains!

The value of domain names - the arts

Category: Enrichment - Remy @

To be frank, I sometimes wonder if I might not bring my series of articles on the valuation criteria of domain names in the tomb before they have even completed. Some readers were puzzled by my choice not to a single synthetic article on the issue to "strike a blow." A major blow in what? In the vacuum, in my humble opinion. For there is no question here of making his mark an ecosystem already well supplied with sites and reference articles.

He comes to make a modest stone building built by enthusiasts and review criteria established - known or less known to specialists as beginners - and go into enough detail so as not to piss in a violin (pardon the expression but I have not found better). Because they swarm and multiply on the canvas, the charlatans of the recovery of domain names tend to serve the stick (which is already) to novices or even some insiders to beat those who were able to detect and believe in the value one of the sources of life on Internet domain name.

I'm rambling. On the menu today, domain names and fireworks. Kesako? Not necessarily easy to define, unless one starts from the premise (which we all should hear) that names the most valued are those that consist of one or more descriptive terms. My definition is this: the arts are all the characters or combinations of characters likely to decorate a generic term. By extension, they can even decorate an artificial term itself (eg iGoogle)

The list is long and endless and, partly thanks to these devices there is an infinite number of combinations possible for domain names. Some examples to get a clearer picture:

- I - formation.fr
- E fleurs.com
- Stock online. Org
- Car 24. Biz
- Super cartes.net
- 123 - encheres.ch
- My appartement.be

So why the fireworks? Whether by necessity or by choice. By necessity because it has arrived a moment (virtual) where most of generic domain names premium being taken, he had to think of something else. Some were immediately plunged into the all-artificial (Yahoo), others clung to the branches of the credit. And still cling. Two examples from among the behemoths of the Internet: Ebay ( "ElectroBaie") and MySpace ( "MonEspace)

Sedo sales - week 31

Category: Bestsellers - Remy @

At the price of tough negotiations and bargaining rogue, I have come to know how to get a weekly list of regular domain names sold on Sedo.

I'll spare you a step back week by week until the age of stone Sedo transactions because some sites like Namebio, DN Sale Price or DomainPreise.org offer powerful tools to search the archives.

But I thought that sharing with you the latest lists at a rate as regular as possible (but not necessarily weekly) could be a nice idea.

I will have the opportunity to harp on the part of my series of notes on the recovery of areas, but in terms of previous similar sales are essential to assessing the value of a name. Because they can afford to make interesting parallels the one hand (how could claim if voitures.com voitures.fr has sold 50 000?) And constitute the "pulse of the market" on the other.

The list is available. PDF format and publicly provided to identify the source: Sedo.com.

I put a personal touch by scoring in the red domain names corresponding to the generic terms used in French or French.

Here, I will not comment on sales for this time but please do not do the same!

del.icio.us: a domain-tasting indigestible

Category: General - Remy @

The famous social bookmarking site del.icio.us - owned by Yahoo - announced yesterday on his blog to have acquired the domain delicious.com.

No need to search too far for reasons for the facelift: a URL such as teaching, difficult for one of the most popular services on the Internet to pass the second. If the pun could still smile when founder Joshua Schachter had chosen for his fan website, it was possible to Delicious continue to accumulate memorability concerns and traffic diversion.

The voice of reason has prevailed so even if the note had to be salted given the notoriety of the site. The purchase price was not disclosed, but the owner had to wait patiently delicious.com its time for some time.

Beyond the case, del.icio.us was the trigger for a mode of domain hacks among domainers and webmasters in general. But no sign had celebrated the bait, the phenomenon has created more damage than anything else in that it has virtually taken the value of domain names down.

Recall that a domain hack is a domain which, together with its extension, form a word or set of words. Some extensions are more amenable to the technique than others. The. Be, for example, can both be used to form words ending in "be" in the French language (her.be, dau.be, four.be ...) and to use the verb be "to be "in English (let-it.be, might.be, 2beornot2.be). The. Com, however, does to my knowledge no possibility.

Frequently I see before my eyes of domain hacks in my business, but my little mark, indicating it is probably an unwise choice. The only one I really kept in 5 years is a rather special and should smile specialists in industrial property which I read: biscuit.lu.

But I am sure you have more examples to post in comments. And for those who are in need of inspiration, some have thought of everything.
